I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist, Supervisor and Coach. I have an established private practice based in Derby with 20 years’ experience of working with clients therapeutically.
In addition to this I have over 20 years’ experience working in business in the work-based learning sector where I started humbly as a payroll clerk on a Youth Training Scheme and worked my way up to become a Director with a few deviations on the way. I undertook a variety of roles including: assessor, internal verifier, teacher, course writer, course leader, auditor, training & development, quality assurance and management. I also have over 10 years’ experience running and managing my own business.
I have continued to develop my private practice in a variety of ways always following what inspires and interests me with a life-time goal of making what I do for a living something that I love.
I am a very down to earth, sensitive and warm person with a great sense of humour. I aspire always to be professional, ethical and to maintain high standards of practice. My extensive hands-on business experience, to a high level, brings an unusual degree of practicality to my practice which provides a good counter-balance to my sensitive and intuitive side.
I’m a perpetual student as I’m continually inspired by and curious about so many things – people, alternative ways of life, neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, holistic therapies to name but a few – and as I continue to learn, develop and evolve so does my practice. I have come to realise that my practice is a culmination of my life and work experiences that is ever changing and ever expanding. There is much more to me and to my practice than the labels and titles given to attempt to describe what I do. More information on the specific strands of what I offer, such as counselling/psychotherapy, supervision and soulful coaching, are given on the pages dedicated to them. But if you are interested in knowing a bit more about who I am and what I’m seeking to do and be in this world, you might find the more expanded versions of ‘about me’ useful – From there to here… and A Foot in Both Worlds…
